Forum Closing

I have decided to close this forum. I initially set it up as a place
for store owners to come and talk about the CafePress changes.

I thought a problem shared is a problem halved and I think for this
purpose this forum did its job. But now I think people are settling
into their new shops and this place is not longer needed.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this forum.
It took me by surprise how many people joined
(although some joined and never came back *LOL* but that's just forums.

So THANK YOU and I wish you all the best of luck in the future

Creative Minds will close on Sunday Night

Hi! I'm Stephanie and I'm new. I have a CafePress (but not for long) and Zazzle, and also a spreadshirt which I'm looking to expand more. Does anyone have a Spreadshirt store and know how to edit it more? I can't seem to change it around more than just a header. Where is the html on this thing!? lol I'd love to see your spreadshirt stores too! Very Happy

Hello Stephanie thanks for joining us here.

I did look at a spreadshirt shop a while back but never really got anywhere with it. I found it even harder than Zazzle to use.

It seems on there you upload your designs and then say you are willing to sell them and that's it. There is probably loads more I just never found out all the info on there.

One thing I have noticed is you can design for the whole shirt front and back not just a small square like Zazzle & CafePress. If you look at my screen grab below you can see I have put that picture (not mine) on the bottom of the shirt and it can be moved up. Plus you can do the sleeves to. Might have to check spreadshirt out again

Well I have one, all be it very small.

First with Spreadshirt it not for the fainthearted or total newbie probably, but like anything once you get used to it it can be fairly quick(ish). The principle is a little different to others in that you can have a free store, you can have a fully customizable premium (paid), you can put products in the marketplace, or you can just post designs for others to use without creating any products yourself anywhere.

Now that sounds a little strange, but it's actually not such a bad thing. As I said my store is tiny I made it as a test shop selling only organic merch, which recently they've added even more to (but I haven't updated). In total I have 16 designs uploaded. I have created products in my little store and posted them to the marketplace and put the designs in the marketplace as separate entities as well. After 3 months they have just transfered £39 direct to my bank account for my designs that have been used (approx $70). Okay not big money here, but for 16 designs and a tiny store that has not much in it that I've done nothing with ain't bad me thinks.

You choose how much it will cost for someone to use your design, and how much markup is on a product. With their pricing structure products are more expensive in the MP than my shop, so at least that's the correct balance in my eyes.

I have just been considering dismantling the shop, but continuing to put some designs up as it's a no brainer really.

Pitfalls: there are separate sites for US and UK, not linked in any way. To have a presence on both would mean 2 accounts and creating duplicate stores also (not really practical). US and UK have different products too. Both have loads of organic and green items.

A huge plus is that they have IMO some of the best quality apparel available at any POD, certainly in the UK it really is high end. From what I've heard their print quality is superb too.

Digital pixel artwork can only be used on some items not all, but they are gradually changing this. Vector art can be used on everything. Some items are printed DTG, others use digital transfer, flock, flex etc. The US and UK sites are at different levels with their progress to DTG printing, but I think that's because they are very quality careful, which to me is a good thing.

When I get some time LOL I can put together a quick and easy guide for anyone that's interested???!

And here's a link to my UK store

I use to have a spreadshirt shop years ago when they had their cork bottom coasters. I just loved those and they were just starting to sell when "they" pulled that product out from their product list. So, I closed my shop. But, after looking at Specialeetees shop in the UK and reading The Crew Designs explanation, have the ability to have the designs in different places sounds interesting and looks good!

When I have "time", I will have to check it out. I do remember it was very HTML intensive and they didn't provide any help when I called. I know some HTML and I am a code stealer/modifier to make it work with what I need, but to remember to use this code to do this or that or whatever, does not come tripping off my fingertips.

But, I do like the idea on having designs on different parts of the shirt and the Organics. I love Organic shirts and I was glad when CP got them, but now that I'm not adding anymore to cp I need another avenue to get Organics to offer my customers.

Thanks for sharing your info! Surprised

Definitely if organics are your thing...as I said they've just increased the range too which I haven't added to my shop at all. Spreadshirt in the US also have a great range of organics and bamboo and hemp tees, But when I last checked they didn't have the baby stuff that the UK did. There does seem to be some inconsistency between the two sites.

I know what you mean though, I think for everyone it's all a case of "when I get the time" for everything at the moment LOL. bounce

I have recently begun switching my main POD site to SS. Love the print capablitlities, products offered, print quality, and there 45 minutes from my house (yay!)

The backdoor end of things is a bit difficult to get used to but once you do it's suprisingly simple. few more days of converting alot of my popular pixel images to vectors and i'll be setting up premium accounts.
